Likenesses of Saint Nicholas

Part of the Saint Nicholas Page honoring Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker

[St. Nicholas]

Icons

Iconography was in former times an art used exclusively in the religious practices of Orthodox Christians, both in their prayerful and pious creation, and in their veneration. Iconography now includes both religious and nonreligous works. Many icons have passed from the hands of the Church or Orthodox believers into secular hands for use as simple art or for sale. Icons continue to be painted, since neither the art itself nor the need for icons has died. Some of the sites here sell or resell icons, and some simply have pictures of them for display.

Saint Nicholas, as one of the most popular of saints of the family of Eastern Orthodox Christian Churches, is depicted in great numbers of icons.
