Saint Nicholas Churches and sites of the Self-Ruled Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese in North America

Part of the Saint Nicholas Page honoring Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker.

[St. Nicholas]

The Antiochian Orthodox Church, also properly called the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch, arises from Antioch, Syria, where, according to the Bible, the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ were first called Christians. Church administration was moved many years ago to Damascus, the capital of Syria. In North America, the Antiochian Orthodox churches are administered by the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese.

We mourn the falling asleep in the Lord of Patriarch Ignatios IV of Antioch, the spiritual father of the Orthodox in Syria and All the East, and of the Antiochian Orthodox in the United States and elsewhere, on December 4, 2012. It was he who had the courage to accept into their sheep-fold the former "Evangelical Orthodox", Christians who had discovered the truths of Orthodox Christianity, and desired to come into the faith as whole church bodies. American Orthodoxy has been affected in many positive ways by this group and others who have followed them.
